On Thursday, April 22, Nwagbo Oliver Chidera, also known as Pankeeroy, a famous Instagram comedian and social media influencer, was arrested for alleged internet fraud.
According to a tweet by Instablog9ja, the comedian was paraded alongside 34 other people on Thursday, April 22. They were apprehended on April 21 at their hideout in James Court, Lekki, Lagos, after the Commission received confirmed intelligence about their suspected criminal activities.
Chidera had been posing as a vendor who redeems bitcoin vouchers using the bitcoincoretrading.com platform to defraud his unsuspecting victims until his arrest. He claimed he got into Bitcoin scam after suffering from depression.
According to a statement released by the commission on Thursday, he was arrested and a Mercedes Benz AMG GLE model worth N36,000,000 was recovered from him.
Investigations revealed that the suspect has N22,300,000 in Bitcoin in his blocked chain account, according to the statement. Exotic vehicles, iPhones, desktop computers, Android devices, and Macbook devices were among the items seized from the suspects.
