Imam gets 10yrs imprisonment for defiling 12yrs old.
An Imam whose name has been given as, Ishmaila Salam has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment with hard labour by the Suhum Circuit Court presided by Effia Addison for defiling a 12-year old girl.
Ishmaila Salam who admitted to the offence and pleaded for leniency with the court, according to reports has been having sexual intercourse with the 12years old girl in the mosque after studies.
Ishmaila is the Imam for Mameng Community Mosque at Suhum Kwahyia in the Eastern region of Ghana.
According to Kwame Abu, father of the victim, the Imam was his daughter’s Arabic studies teacher at the said mosque.
The mother of the victim realized some activities between the victim and the accused person, which she warned the Imam to cease it.
