2020 Election Petition Dismissed as having no merit – Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of the Republic of Ghana is the highest ranking court of appeal in the country. Following the December 2020 general election, the National Democratic Congress sent a petition to the supreme court on the issue that no candidate scored the required 50 +1%.
After several weeks of sitting on the case, the supreme court presided by Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah gave its ruling on the case today. According to the court, the case was not backed by enough credible evidence from the petitioner and on that accord the case is dismissed as having no merit to national interest.
The evidence of the petitioner was somehow considered as been a bit away from their petition and in that regard not enough support for their petition.
In response, after the court was dismissed the lead council for the petitioner said to the media that
WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GIVE YOU OUR ADDRESS NOW BUT IT WILL BE DONE BY OUR FLAG BEARER AT 5PM TODAY SO ALL MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA SHOULD COME TO HIS OFFICE AT 5PM FOR THE ADDRESS.
The court also questioned the legal Council for all the three teams on why they were not having female’s on their four member lead council.
